The Patient Handling Safety course is an online training program designed for nurses, aides, orderlies, and other caregivers who perform patient handling tasks in healthcare environments. The course discusses the hazards that can be associated with patient handling tasks and what healthcare workers can do to prevent accidents and injuries while performing them.

Caring for patients in a healthcare environment can require caregivers to lift as much as four thousand pounds during a typical shift. No wonder they are twice as likely to suffer musculoskeletal injuries on the job as employees in other industries. Areas covered in the course include patient handling and caregiver injuries, algorithms, patient assessment and body mechanics, repositioning a patient in bed, performing patient transfer tasks safely, and mechanical lift devices.

The course is 100% online, fully self-paced, approximately 45–60 minutes in length, and accessible on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
