Frequently Asked Questions

The First Aid in Construction Environments course is an online safety training program that teaches construction workers how to recognize and treat common job site injuries and illnesses. The course covers eye injuries, cuts, burns, strains, sprains, fractures, shock, heart attacks, choking, and heat-related illnesses, as well as when to call for emergency medical help.

This course is designed for construction workers who may need to provide initial first aid response on the job site. It is appropriate for general laborers, supervisors, designated first aid responders, and anyone working on a construction site where medical facilities are not immediately accessible.

The course takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. It is fully self-paced, so you can pause and resume at your convenience. You have 6 months from enrollment to finish. Progress saves automatically on the same device.

The course covers recognizing and treating eye injuries, cuts and lacerations, burns, abrasions, strains, sprains, fractures, shock, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, choking, and heat-related illnesses. It also covers what workers should and should not do when someone is injured, and when to call for emergency medical assistance.

This course provides a certificate of completion, which documents that you have received first aid awareness training for construction environments. It is not a replacement for hands-on first aid certification programs such as those offered by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Yes. The course is accessible on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Progress saves automatically on the same device, so you can stop and resume where you left off.

 No. This course provides a printable certificate of completion. It does not include a Department of Labor (DOL) or OSHA card. DOL/OSHA cards are issued only with OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Outreach Training courses.
