Everything you need to know about the DOT “Reasonable Suspicion” Testing for Managers and Supervisors (Part I).

DOT Reasonable Suspicion Testing training teaches managers and supervisors how to identify signs of drug and alcohol use in employees who hold safety-sensitive positions under DOT/FMCSA regulations, and how to properly refer employees for reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. The DOT requires at least 2 hours of training, which is split between this Part I course and the separate Part II course.
Under 49 CFR Part 382, motor carriers must ensure that all persons designated to supervise drivers receive at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and at least 60 minutes of training on controlled substances use. This training is required for any manager or supervisor who may need to determine whether a driver or other safety-sensitive employee should be sent for reasonable suspicion testing.
Part I takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. It is fully self-paced, so you can pause and resume at your convenience. You have 6 months from enrollment to finish. Progress saves automatically on the same device.
