  The course takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. It is fully self-paced, so you can pause and resume at your convenience. You have 6 months from enrollment to finish. Progress saves automatically on the same device.
  The course covers the definition of distracted driving as defined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the three types of distractions (visual, manual, and cognitive), the dangers of cell phone use, texting, eating, and other activities while driving, how distractions increase accident risk, and strategies for staying focused on the road.
OSHA does not have a specific distracted driving standard, but the General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a safe workplace. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) prohibits texting and hand-held cell phone use by commercial motor vehicle drivers under 49 CFR 392.80 and 392.82. Many employers require distracted driving training as part of their fleet safety and risk management programs.
