Contractor Training or a Construction Hazard Course?
This course is about working on somebody else's site: the paperwork, the liability and the coordination. The hazard courses go deep on the risks it introduces.
- Contractor & Subcontractor Training. The page you are on. Multi employer liability, pre job plans, permits, coordination and reporting.
- OSHA's Construction Focus Four. The four leading construction killers in depth: falls, struck by, caught in and electrocution. View the OSHA's Construction Focus Four
- Trenching and Excavation Safety. Excavation work in detail, including soil classification and protective systems. View the Trenching and Excavation Safety
- Barricade Safety. The barriers and exclusion zones this course keeps asking contractors to coordinate. View the Barricade Safety
Take this one at mobilisation, then add the hazard course that matches the work your crew actually does.
Which Employer Gets Cited When a Contractor Creates a Hazard?
The question that makes this course different from general construction safety is liability on a shared site, and OSHA answers it with four roles rather than one.
- The creating employer. The employer whose work brought the hazard into being can be cited for it. The course's worked example is a scaffold erected without guardrails: whoever put it up created the fall hazard.
- The exposing employer. The employer whose own workers are exposed to the hazard can be cited too, even where somebody else created it.
- The correcting employer. The employer responsible for correcting the hazard, often the trade assigned to fix or maintain the condition, carries its own exposure.
- The controlling employer. The employer with general supervisory authority over the site, usually the general contractor or host, can be cited for failing to exercise reasonable care over hazards it did not create.
More than one of these can be cited for the same condition, which is why the course treats coordination and documentation as liability control rather than paperwork.

Codes should be in the text, and not just verbal. This would make it easier to take notes.
