Every eTrainToday course runs in your web browser. You need an internet-connected computer, tablet, or smartphone; a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari; a stable internet connection; and speakers, headphones, or earbuds. There is nothing to download and nothing to install.
If you can watch a video online, you can take our training.
Your course progress is saved on the device you use. If you start on your phone and switch to a computer later, you will not pick up where you left off. Pick the device you can finish the whole course on.
Everything in the Minimum column will run a course start to finish. The Recommended column is what we would pick if we were sitting down to a long one.

Our courses work on the current version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari, on both Windows and Mac.
Keep your browser updated. Most browsers update themselves automatically, so this usually takes care of itself.
Microsoft retired it, and our courses will not run in it. If Internet Explorer is the only browser on your work computer, ask your IT team to install Chrome or Edge.
Yes. Your course opens in a new browser window. If your pop-up blocker is turned on, you will click "Take Course" and nothing will happen.
When your browser shows a blocked-pop-up message in the address bar, choose the option to always allow pop-ups from etraintoday.com, then click Take Course again.
This is the single most common reason a course will not open. See the full list.
Yes — but pick one device and stay with it for the whole course.
Courses work on phones and tablets. A laptop or desktop is easier: quizzes, diagrams, and the final exam all involve reading and clicking, and a bigger screen makes that far less frustrating.
If you start a course on your phone and later switch to a computer, you will not pick up where you left off. Choose the device you can realistically finish on, and use that same device every time you sign in.
If you are taking a long course such as HAZWOPER 40-Hour, a laptop or desktop is the safer choice.
Yes. Your progress is saved as you go. You can close the course, sign back in later, and pick up where you left off.
Progress is saved to the device you are working on, so switching from a phone to a computer mid-course means starting over.
Some courses include required minimum time on certain sections. If a section is timed, the Next button becomes available once the required time has passed.
Most course problems are fixed in under a minute. Find your symptom below.
You clicked Take Course and nothing happened.
Your course opens in a new browser window, so a pop-up blocker will stop it before it starts. This is the most common problem we see.
Our courses include narration, so you need speakers, headphones, or earbuds.
Check these in order:
Check that you're on the same device you started the course on. Your progress is saved to the device you were using. If you started on your phone and opened the course on a computer, you'll be back at the beginning.
Also make sure you're signed in with the same account you enrolled with.
Some sections have a minimum time or require you to finish the audio before you can move on. The Next button becomes available once that's complete.
Try a different browser. We support the current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari — switching browsers resolves most remaining problems. Internet Explorer is not supported and won't run our courses.
If your workplace uses a firewall, content filter, or restricted network, your IT team may need to allow the following so courses load properly.
Give this list to whoever manages your network.
Our newer courses include captions, alt text for images, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support. Older courses in our catalog may not include all of these features.
If you use assistive technology and want to check a specific course before you buy, contact us and we will tell you what that course supports.
If you run into an accessibility barrier in a course you have already started, contact us. We treat accessibility problems as support issues to be solved.
The short answers. The detail behind each one is in the sections above.
