OSHA does not have a specific active shooter training standard. However, under the General Duty Clause (Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act), employers are required to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards. Run, Hide, Fight is a widely recognized response framework for active shooter situations endorsed by DHS and other federal agencies. It prioritizes running (evacuating if a safe path exists), hiding (finding a secure location if evacuation is not possible), and fighting (as a last resort, taking action against the shooter). This course covers these response strategies in detail.
