Machine safety and safeguarding is essential for protecting workers from needless and preventable injury. Anyone involved in the operation, servicing or maintenance of machines – employers, employees, safety professionals and industrial hygenists – should be aware of OSHA required machine guarding methods in order to elimitate or control hazards that they or others around them may be exposed to.
This course provides general information on the various hazards related to mechanical motions and the OSHA techniques and requirements used to protect workers. At the completion of this course, the student should be able to understand machine guarding regulations, recognize hazards, identify possible solutions for machine guarding hazards, and understand how to report violations to your employer or OSHA as necessary.
